本研究因為採用立意樣本且樣本數少，收案地點侷限於台灣中部 的私立醫院，無法避免選擇性偏差，但在相同的健康保險制度與政府 法令規範下，研究地域性的限制應不至於對研究結果的外推性有太大 的影響，而公立醫院與財團法人醫院則須另外的研究。
本研究對於住院醫療資源耗用僅以健保申報費用為代表，經急診 住院的醫療費用無法事後分隔，因此不能排除急診醫師對醫療資源耗 用的影響，又因病人自費的資料取得困難，所以本研究並不包括病患 自費的金額，到底病患自費費用占住院醫療總額的比例有多少，甚至 對醫療資源耗用的影響有多大，應需要另外進一步研究探討。
