EXTERNAL MERCHANDISE TRADE STATISTICS
DECEMBER 2017
- Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP905 million and MOP7.95 billion respectively, up by 20.1% and 17.2% year-on-year. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP7.04 billion.
- In the fourth quarter of 2017, merchandise export and import totalled MOP2.72 billion and MOP21.69 billion respectively, up by 17.8% and 10.6% year-on-year, resulting in a trade deficit of MOP18.97 billion.
- For the whole year of 2017, merchandise export rose by 12.3% year-on-year, of which re-exports increased by 17.5% but domestic exports decreased by 9.0%;
meanwhile, merchandise import grew by 6.3%. External merchandise trade went up by 7.0% year-on-year to MOP87.13 billion. Merchandise trade deficit reached MOP64.57 billion.
- For the whole year of 2017, merchandise export to Mainland China expanded by 21.1% year-on-year to MOP2.12 billion, of which exports to the nine provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta (MOP1.90 billion) rose by 15.8%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China grew by 0.7%
year-on-year to MOP12.11 billion, with imports from the nine provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta (MOP11.53 billion) rising by 1.6%.
