In November 2020, merchandise export amounted to MOP957 million, down by 15.7% year-on-year; merchandise import rose by 56.6% to MOP13.43 billion. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP12.47 billion.

In the first eleven months of 2020, merchandise export fell by 17.9% year-on-year, of which re-exports decreased by 20.7% but domestic exports increased by 3.2%; meanwhile, merchandise import dipped by 0.5%. External merchandise trade dropped by 2.7% year-on-year to MOP90.40 billion.

Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP71.19 billion, an increase of MOP1.72 billion from MOP69.48 billion a year earlier.

Analysed by destination, merchandise export to Hong Kong (MOP6.58 billion) decreased by 12.3% year-on-year in the first eleven months of 2020, while exports to mainland China (MOP1.48 billion) and the USA (MOP502 million) expanded by 2.5% and 101.5% respectively. By place of origin, merchandise import from mainland China (MOP23.78 billion) declined by 15.0% year-on-year, while imports from the EU (MOP24.33 billion) and Japan (MOP8.89 billion) grew by 9.4% and 60.3% respectively.
