Merchandise export amounted to MOP918 million, down by 17.6% year-on-year; merchandise import increased by 23.6% to MOP7.54 billion.

Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP6.63 billion.

In the first seven months of 2018, merchandise export rose by 5.6% year-on-year, of which re-exports increased by 8.6% but domestic exports decreased by 10.9%; meanwhile, merchandise import grew by 24.4%. External merchandise trade went up by 21.7% year-on-year to MOP58.01 billion. Merchandise trade deficit widened further to MOP43.79 billion.

Merchandise export to Mainland China fell by 3.9% year-on-year to MOP1.18 billion in the first seven months of 2018, with exports to the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta rising by 3.5%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China rose by 14.2% year-on-year to MOP7.59 billion, of which imports from the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta increased by 16.4%.
