Visitor arrivals totalled 3,569,825, up by 16.9% year-on-year. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors grew by 6.5% and 28.9% respectively. For the whole year of 2018, total visitor arrivals reached 35,803,663, an increase of 9.8% as compared with 2017; the average length of stay of visitors remained stable year-on-year at 1.2 days.

Visitor arrivals by land surged by 49.8% and those by air grew by 13.8%; however, visitor arrivals by sea saw a decline of 35.3%. For the whole year of 2018, visitor arrivals by land went up by 18.9% year-on-year to 22,152,467, with 1,052,838 entering via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Visitor arrivals by air grew by 20.1% year-on-year whereas those by sea dropped by 7.8%.

Visitors from Mainland China increased by 18.4% year-on-year, with those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme rising by 17.9%. Visitors from the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan also registered growth. In 2018, visitors from Mainland China recorded a rise of 13.8%, while those from the Republic of Korea decreased by 7.0%. Meanwhile, visitors from the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom saw increases.
