Unit 3 What Did They Send to the Kids?
Narrator 1: Today is Donation Day at school. Patty, Kevin and John are in the classroom, and they are talking about their donations.
Patty: What a cool robot! Whose robot is this?
Kevin: It’s mine.
Narrator 2: John hears their conversation and looks at the robot.
John: Wow! Your robot is not cheap. Did your parents buy you the robot?
Kevin: No. It was from my uncle. He sent it to me from the USA.
Patty: Really? Don’t you like it?
Kevin: Sure I do.
John: Then why are you donating it?
Narrator 1: Hey, everybody. It’s so weird. If you love it, will you doanate it?
Narrator 2: Hahaha…Is he a fool?
Kevin: I have many toys, but the kids at the children’s home don’t.
Patty & John: Wow! That’s very kind of you.
Chorus: Kevin, we love you. You makes the world more beautiful.
Patty: How about you, John? What are you donating?
John: A cap and three pairs of gloves.
Narrator 1: At this time, Kevin finds a cap in the box. And he walks to John.
Kevin: Let me guess. That cap is yours, right?
John: No. That’s Amy’s. Mine is next to hers.
Narrator 2: At this moment, Amy sees the cap and shouts.
Patty: No. I know that cap. I gave it to you for your birthday! How can you donate it?
Narrator 1 &2: How can you donate it? How can you donate it?
John: Oops! I’m so sorry.
Narrator 1: Several days later, a Thank-you card is sent to the school. And they all can’t wait to read it.
Peter: Let me read it for you, guys!
Kevin: No! I want to read it first.
Patty: Hey guys! Lady first, you know?
Narrator 2: Peter, Kevin and Patty keep arguing who should read it. Finally, they decide to read it together.
Patty: Dear friends in Class 802, thank you for your generous donations.
John: You sent us so many gifts last Wednesday. Our kids are all happy because they now have toys, caps, shoes and more.
Kevin: Everyone loves the big robot—they named it Robert.
Patty: Our little Leo Picked the blue cap. Thanks to you, we gave him a wonderful birthday gift!
John: Please come and visit us someday. We can make you a big cake and thank you in person.
Kevin: Thanks again for everything. Much love, Happy Children’s Home.
Chorus: You’re welcome! That’s nothing. Helping others is the happiest thing in the world.
Narrator 2: That night, Peter, Kevin and John have a sweet dream.
Narrator 1: They dream about the kids. In the dream, they play with them very happily.
Chorus: Helping others is the happiest thing in the world. Love can make the world go around.

Unit 4 What Were You Doing?
Narrator: Today is Sunday. Mr. Brown is mopping the floor, and Mrs. Brown is doing the dishes in the kitchen. Their son, Max, and daughter, Jenny, are doing their homework in the living room now.
Mrs. Brown: Oh, no! Where is it? I can’t find it. What can I do?
Mr. Brown: Honey, what happened to you? Can I help you?
Mrs. Brown: My wedding ring is gone. I can’t remember where I last put it. Can you help me?
Max: Mom, don’t worry so much. It must be somewhere in the house.
Jenny: That’s right. But before we start, can Mom give us more clues?
Narrator: They ask Mrs. Brown when and where she last saw the ring. Mrs.
Brown is still very nervous.
Mr. Brown: Take it easy, honey. Tell us slowly. Everything will be all right.
Mrs. Brown: At a quarter to five, I was playing the piano. I was wearing it at that time.
Max: And then?
Mrs. Brown: I was mopping the living room floor at 5:30. After that, I preparing our dinner in the kitchen…Was the ring on my finger?
Narrator: Poor Mrs. Brown. She can’t remember where it is.
Chorus 1: Poor Mom was wiping the table.
Chorus 2: Poor Mom was doing the dishes.
Chorus all: Poor Mom was doing a lot of housework.
Jenny: Everyone. Let’s start to look for the ring. I can be responsible for the living room. How about you, guys?
Mr. Brown: I can look for it in the bedroom.
Max: I can go to the kitchen. Let’s go!
Narrator: Thirty minutes passed. The whole family went back to the living room. But nobody found the ring.
Mrs. Brown: Thank you, my dear family. You must be very hungry. We can look for it after dinner.
Chorus all: Yes, Mom!
Narrator: The Brown family are eating dinner now. Suddenly, Mr. Brown cyied out.
Mr. Brown: Oh yeah~~Here’s the ring. It’s under the sweet and sour fish.
Chorus all: Finally, she got her ring back.
Narrator: Mrs. Brown is very happy. But…
Mrs. Brown: Oh, no, not again. Where is my ring this time?
Chorus: Oh, my God!

Unit 5 I Want to Be a Chef
Narrator: It’s dinner time. The Lin family are having dinner in the dining room.
The Lin family enjoy it a lot because it’s time for them to get togeher.
Mrs. Lin: How was your day today, Patty?
Patty: Great! My classmates and I talked about our future jobs.
Mr. Lin: That’s nice. What do you want to be?
Patty: I love to act, so I want to be an actress.
Narrator: Wow! An actress is a cool job. I love it.
Gina: But actors and actresses usually need to memorize lots of lines. Can you do that?
Patty: Well. Not really. I hate to memorize things. Maybe I can be a writer.
I like to write stories, too.
Narrator: I hate to memorize things, too. My English teacher asks me to memorize so many words. What’s wrong with him?
Chorus: What’s wrong with him? He must be a crazy man.
David: That’s wonderful! Your stories are interesting!
Patty: Thanks, David. But they’re not good enough. I need to keep practicing.
Gina: David, you love cooking, and you cook well. Do you want to be a chef?
David: Yes. I enjoy cooking very much. I want to be a great chef like A Ji Shi!
Narrator: A Ji Shi? The famous chef in Taiwan? He began to work in the kitchen at age fifteen. He is also a good teacher. He loves sharing his cooking skills with others. He sets a good example for us.
Chorus: Yummy, yummy! A Ji Shi! Thank you for your good example for us.
Mrs. Lin: What about you, Gina?
Gina: I plan to be a reporter. Maybe I can interview Patty and David in the future!
Chorus: What do you want to be in the future? Never give up, and your dream will come true.
