Per-capita spending of overnight and same-day Mainland visitors topped at MOP3,587 and MOP815 respectively. Shopping spending of overnight visitors was MOP1,629 (45.4% of total) and that of same-day visitors was MOP644 (79.0%), down by 35.0% and 18.4% respectively year-on-year.

Total spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors amounted to MOP14.05 billion in the fourth quarter, down by 13.9% year-on-year. Spending of overnight visitors decreased by 17.7% year-on-year, while that of same-day visitors increased by 4.2%.
Per-capita spending of visitors was MOP1,757 in the fourth quarter, down by 20.2% year-on-year, which was spent mainly on Shopping (45.3%), Accommodation (26.9%) and Food & Beverage (19.9%). Per-capita spending of overnight and same-day visitors decreased by 18.4% and 8.9%
respectively.
For the whole year of 2014, total spending of visitors reached MOP61.75 billion, up by 3.7% from MOP59.54 billion in 2013. Per-capita spending of visitors was MOP1,959, down by 3.5% year-on-year. Per-capita spending of overnight visitors rose slightly by 0.5% to MOP3,493, while that of same-day visitors dropped by 3.2% to MOP641.
Visitors from the United Kingdom had relatively high per-capita spending (MOP1,518) among the long-haul visitors, up by 19.0%
year-on-year, followed by that of visitors from the United States (MOP1,365), up by 12.1%. Long-haul visitors spent primarily on Accommodation and Food & Beverage.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, per-capita spending of Mainland visitors was MOP2,038, down by 27.3% year-on-year. Shopping spending plunged by 32.8% year-on-year to MOP1,079 (52.9% of total), which was spent mainly on Local Food Products, Jewellery & Watches, Cosmetics &
Perfume. Spending of those travelling under the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) decreased by 10.0% to MOP2,618, with 62.9% being spent on shopping.

Per-capita spending of visitors from Singapore increased by 10.2% year-on-year, at MOP1,977, and that of visitors from Malaysia rose by 5.1%, at MOP1,718. On the other hand, per- capita spending of visitors from Japan (MOP1,716), Taiwan (MOP1,510) and Hong Kong (MOP912) decreased by 4.7%, 3.9% and 3.8% respectively year-on-year.

For the whole year of 2014, visitors from Mainland China had the highest per-capita spending, at MOP2,354, down by 8.2% year-on- year, followed by that of visitors from Singapore (MOP1,904) and Japan (MOP1,846). Per-capita spending of visitors from Australia was relatively high among the long-haul visitors, at MOP1,489.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, 57.1% of the visitors came to Macao mainly for vacation, and 23.5% for transit.
Analysed by place of residence, 25.1% of the visitors from Hong Kong came to Macao mainly for gaming activities, higher than that of other countries and regions.
Most of the visitors from Taiwan (52.5%) were transit visitors, while visitors from Malaysia came mainly for vacation (76.6%).
Long-haul visitors from Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States came to Macao mainly for vacation, representing 81.2%, 71.8% and 70.5% of the total respectively.

Per-capita spending of overnight visitors from Mainland China was MOP4,232, down by 5.0% year-on-year. Overnight visitors from Taiwan and Singapore spent an average of MOP3,451 and MOP3,079, up by 4.7% and 12.0% respectively.
