EXTERNAL MERCHANDISE TRADE STATISTICS MAY 2018
- Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP1.07 billion and MOP7.18 billion respectively, up by 20.1% and 28.0% year-on-year. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP6.10 billion.
- In the first five months of 2018, merchandise export rose by 9.8% year-on-year, of which re-exports increased by 13.0% but domestic exports decreased by 7.8%; meanwhile, merchandise import grew by 26.3%. External merchandise trade went up by 24.0% year-on-year to MOP41.46 billion. Merchandise trade deficit widened further to MOP31.18 billion.
- Merchandise export to Mainland China grew by 15.7% year-on-year to MOP824 million in the first five months of 2018, with exports to the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta rising by 19.0%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China rose by 14.5% year-on-year to MOP5.21 billion, of which imports from the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta increased by 16.3%.
