EXTERNAL MERCHANDISE TRADE STATISTICS
APRIL 2018
- Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP1.09 billion and MOP6.75 billion respectively, up by 30.2% and 25.9% year-on-year. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP5.66 billion.
- In the first four months of 2018, merchandise export rose by 7.3% year-on-year, of which re-exports increased by 10.5% but domestic exports decreased by 9.8%; meanwhile, merchandise import grew by 26.4%. External merchandise trade went up by 23.7% year-on-year to MOP33.31 billion. Merchandise trade deficit widened further to MOP25.19 billion.
- Merchandise export to Mainland China grew by 22.0% year-on-year to MOP668 million in the first four months of 2018, with exports to the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta rising by 26.3%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China rose by 14.5% year-on-year to MOP4.05 billion, of which imports from the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta increased by 16.3%.
