EXTERNAL MERCHANDISE TRADE STATISTICS AUGUST 2017
- Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP805 million and MOP6.33 billion respectively, down by 17.2% and 4.3% year-on-year. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP5.53 billion.
- In the first eight months of 2017, merchandise export rose by 9.0% year-on-year, of which re-exports increased by 12.7% but domestic exports decreased by 7.9%; meanwhile, merchandise import grew by 4.1%. External merchandise trade went up by 4.8% year-on-year to MOP54.95 billion. Merchandise trade deficit widened further to MOP39.87 billion.
- Merchandise export to Mainland China grew by 17.6% year-on-year to MOP1.42 billion in the first eight months of 2017, of which exports to the nine provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta (MOP1.26 billion) rose by 11.3%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China slid by 2.4% year-on-year to MOP7.66 billion, of which imports from the nine provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta (MOP7.29 billion) fell by 2.1%.
