abcIn the fourth quarter of 2018, merchandise export and import totalled MOP3.13 billion and MOP24.41 billion, up by 15.1% and 12.6% respectively year-on-year, resulting in a trade deficit of MOP21.28 billion.

Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP1.04 billion and MOP7.98 billion, up by 15.4% and 0.5% respectively year-on-year. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP6.94 billion.

For the whole year of 2018, merchandise export rose by 8.1% year-on-year, of which re-exports increased by 12.3% but domestic exports decreased by 14.3%;

meanwhile, merchandise import grew by 18.8%. External merchandise trade went up by 17.4% year-on-year to MOP102.30 billion. Merchandise trade deficit reached MOP77.91 billion.

For the whole year of 2018, merchandise export to Mainland China fell by 5.1% year-on-year to MOP2.01 billion, with exports to the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta rising by 2.7%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China rose by 12.9% year-on-year to MOP13.67 billion, of which imports from the Nine Provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta increased by 14.9%.
