Business & Administration

Analysed by course type, Business & Administration courses had the highest number of participants, at 18,819 (29.7% of total); meanwhile, there were 7,917 participants (12.5%) in Tourism & Leisure courses and 4,315 participants (6.8%) in Information & Communication Technology courses.

There were 52 institutions offering vocational training courses in 2021. A total of 1,436 courses were organised, an increase of 6.9% year-on-year. Total number of participants rose by 3.4% to 63,361.

The course completion rate was 93.0%, down slightly by 0.2 percentage points year-on-year. Education courses had the highest completion rate, at 97.9%, followed by Business & Administration courses at 94.4%; the completion rate for Arts & Design courses was 89.4%.

Number of participants in Arts & Design courses surged by 61.7% year-on-year and that in Hotel & Catering Services courses grew by 56.9%. On the other hand, number of participants in Language courses showed a decrease of 41.3%.

2|Vocational Training Survey 2021

http://www.dsec.gov.mo/e/ifp.aspx Vocational training course: Organised educational activities that provide participants with the skills to perform a specific occupation.

Participants: Participants who are admitted into a course during the reference year.

Course completion rate: Number of completions as a proportion in the total number of participants of relevant courses in the reference year.

Completions: Participants who have passed the final examination for the course during the reference year. If no examination is required, they refer to participants who have an attendance rate of not lower than the prescribed requirement (including those who have completed cross-year courses).

Supplementary Information:

All active institutions that mainly engaged in providing vocational training courses in 2021, including local public and private training institutions as well as higher education institutions.

Participants in Courses Organised for Enterprises / Institutions

According to the Construction Safety Scheme, persons working in construction sites or work sites shall hold a valid Occupational Safety Card for Construction Industry. Number of participants who attended relevant courses totalled 10,555 in 2021, down by 2.6% year-on-year.

Analysed by target audience, a total of 244 courses were organised for public administration institutions, with 10,876 participants; most of them (48.7%) attended Business & Administration courses. This was followed by courses organised for gaming enterprises and educational institutions, with 6,154 and 5,603 participants respectively.

Among the 1,436 vocational training courses, 660 (46.0% of total) were organised for enterprises or institutions, up by 0.3% year-on-year. Number of participants dropped by 1.9% to 32,953.

Analysed by course type, the majority of the participants attended Business & Administration courses, at 34.9% (11,500), followed by Tourism & Leisure courses at 18.2% (5,982), and Language courses at 9.3% (3,053).
