Full-time employees in the Gaming Sector decreased by 381 year-on-year to 57,459, with female employees making up 57.7%. Shift working employees accounted for 94.4% of the total employees in the Sector.
Average earnings (excluding bonuses) of full-time employees in June fell by 5.5% year-on-year to MOP23,200; resident and non-resident employees earned an average of MOP23,370 and MOP19,830 respectively.
Owing to the impact of novel coronavirus pneumonia, there were only 25 vacancies at the end of the second quarter, down significantly by 879 year-on- year. Among the vacancies, 68.0% required work experience, 76.0% required tertiary education, and requirement for knowledge of Mandarin and English both stood at 88.0%.
Number of dealers totalled 25,344, up by 131 year-on-year but down by 115 from the end of the fourth quarter of 2019; their average earnings fell by 7.6%
year-on-year to MOP19,270.

In the second quarter of 2020, only 129 new employees were hired, a notable decrease of 93.4% from 1,942 in the same quarter of 2019. The employee recruitment rate (0.2%) and the employee turnover rate (0.6%) went down by 3.2 and 1.7 percentage points respectively, while the job vacancy rate fell to near zero. These indicators reflect a substantial decline in demand for manpower in the Gaming Sector.

Participants by course category
As regards vocational training, about 70% of the gaming enterprises provided vocational training to their employees. In the second quarter, a total of 991 courses were organised. Number of participants surged by 180.4% year-on-year to 299,921, and almost all of the participants attended courses during office hours.
Among the participants, 45.8% attended courses in Business & Administration, 23.4% in Gaming & Entertainment Services and 11.2% in Presentation &
Communication Skills.
There were 99.9% of the participants attending courses organised by the gaming enterprises, and almost all participants were employer-sponsored.
