Average earnings (excluding bonuses) of full-time employees in September rose by 3.9% year-on-year to MOP27,950; resident and non-resident employees earned an average of MOP27,800 and MOP29,210 respectively.
Bank tellers totalled 679, with average earnings rising by 5.2% year-on-year to MOP17,180.

In the third quarter of 2018, the Banking Sector hired 460 new employees.
The employee recruitment rate (7.3%) and the job vacancy rate (4.1%) rose by 2.5 and 0.4 percentage points respectively year-on-year, indicating that there were still vacant posts to be filled in the Banking Sector in this quarter.

Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages Banking Sector As regards vocational training, around 80% of the banks provided vocational training to their employees. In the third quarter, a total of 266 courses were organised and number of participants decreased by 27.0% year-on-year to 6,882; 50.3% of the participants attended courses during office hours.
The majority of the participants (75.1%) attended Business & Administration courses, followed by Law courses (21.5%). Furthermore, 74.1% of the participants attended courses organised by the banks, and almost all participants were employer-sponsored.
Providing vocational training: Provision of courses organised by the banks or in conjunction with other institutions, or those sponsored by the banks.
