VISITOR ARRIVALS

In February 2004, the total number of visitor arrivals increased by 6.0% over the same period of 2003 to 1,110,569. Visitors mainly came from Mainland China, including those who travelled under the “individual visit” scheme, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Same-day visitors accounted for 51.3% of the total arrivals, with 569,284.

∆% Year-on-year percentage change

In the first two months of 2004, there were 2,444,460 visitor arrivals, an increase of 20.1% over the same period of last year. Same-day visitors comprised 49.8% of the total arrivals, with 1,216,167.

Compared with the first two months of 2003, the cumulative number of visitors arrivals by sea was 942,828 (+0.4%), among which 918,901 (+0.3%) arrived at the Outer Harbour. Arrivals by land totalled at 1,391,568 (+44.0%), of which 1,318,518 (+42.6%) arrived through the Border Gate and 73,050 through the Checkpoint of CoTai. Arrivals by air were 110,064 (-14.3%), among which 107,874 (-14.7%) arrived at the Macao International Airport.
