Abstract

The social scientists care about the information that is closely linked social pul- sation. The government information cantain the rich resources concerned by social scientists. In 1979, Hernon indicated that the unique professional dispositions of social scientists had contributed to the special requirement in using government pub- lications. The social scientists are thus important users of government information.

This article first discusses information behavior of the social scientists, subsequently reviews the related studies in government information used by the social scientists.

Under the great impact of internet developments, government information has gone beyond its normal ranges. Furthermore, new trends in searching systems of govern-

ment information have also been developed. It also introduces the user study of the

use of government information by social scientists in the World Wide Web Era. By

deeply understanding the user studies, we anticipated the library could provide the

higher quality government information service in the information time.
