The Competitive Strategy Analysis of Taiwan Machine Tool Industry Through a Real Case Study

ABSTRACT

In our country, the development of machine tool industry has already lasted about half a century, and till now, it has been growing steadily and selling well by its low-price models between international markets. However, during the last years, the market of global machine tool has competed more and more violently, especially in 1997, the tendency of low-price has formed in Taipei

International Machine Tool Show, and resulted the destructive competition of price. Another, with the rapid growth of Mainland China, Taiwan’s machine tool industry has been threatened to face the hardships of enterprise transitions and managements.

Therefore, enterprises have to adjust their strategies to reverse their exigences. This research adopts case study research, and it combines the theories of Analytic Hierarchy Process, Fuzzy Theory and The Simple Additive Weighting Method. It can evaluate each company and look for the best strategy which is fitting for every company’s development. Its conclusion can supply some useful advices for enterprises and let them adopt correct strategies to maintain their competitive advantages, and reduce the risks of making wrong policy in the future.
