EXTERNAL MERCHANDISE TRADE STATISTICS OCTOBER 2016
− Merchandise export and import amounted to MOP759 million and MOP6.09 billion respectively, down by 0.7% and 19.3% year-on-year.
Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP5.33 billion.
− From January to October 2016, merchandise export dropped by 4.8% year-on-year, of which re-exports decreased by 7.6% but domestic exports rose by 9.0%; merchandise import slid by 18.2%. External merchandise trade declined by 16.7% year-on-year to MOP66.61 billion.
Merchandise trade deficit widened further to MOP49.62 billion.
− Merchandise export to Mainland China fell by 2.8% year-on-year to MOP1.47 billion in the first ten months of 2016, of which exports to the nine provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta (MOP1.38 billion) dropped by 5.5%. Analysed by place of consignment, merchandise import from Mainland China declined by 6.7% to MOP9.96 billion, of which imports from the nine provinces of the Pan Pearl River Delta (MOP9.38 billion) reduced by 7.6%.
