A Study on Relationships of Gender Role Traits, Leisure Perceived Freedom, and Leisure Satisfaction: The Case of Two voc

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to discuss the correlation of vocational students’ gender role traits, leisure perceived freedom to their leisure satisfaction. Using a convenience sample, employed questionnaire method to survey vocational students, 600 self-administer Questionnaires were distributed and resulted in 505 valid responses turned in. Descriptive statistical, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression were utilized to examine the relationships among variables.

The results are summarized as follows: 1.The profiles of samples were:(1)Most of the vocational students investigated were male, single, with good health and the average age was of 28. In regards to the occupation, most of the respondents were in manufacturing industries and live in Changhua with personal income under $20,000. Most of the respondents living in . (2) In gender role traits,

“androgyny”type at most. (3)In the perception of freedom, “leisure needs” dimension scored highest. (4)In the leisure satisfaction, “relaxational” dimension scored highest. 2.This study concludes the following:(1) Perceived freedom in leisure differed significantly with perceived health and gender role traits. (2) Leisure satisfaction differed significantly with Age, family life cycle, perceived health, occupation and gender role traits. (3) Perceived freedom in leisure was positively correlated to leisure satisfaction. (4) Perceived freedom in leisure predict leisure satisfaction, in androgyny, “leisure needs ”, “depth of involvement in - - vi leisure ” and “perceived leisure control” renders the important;in both masculinity and undifferentiated, “leisure needs

” and “depth of involvement in leisure ” renders the important ;in Femininity, “depth of involvement in leisure ”, “leisure needs ” and “perceived leisure control ” renders the important. Finally discussion and suggestions based on the results were made.
