時期的音樂汲取創作靈感,最後運用了普賽爾與巴赫常用的頑固低音手法,寫 成了第一樂章的〈夏康舞曲〉。其後第二樂章〈間奏曲〉與第三樂章〈進行 曲〉之主題、動機亦與〈夏康舞曲〉主題高度關聯,可說是一以貫之、一氣呵 成。

四、《第一組曲》對後世影響

霍爾斯特的《第一組曲》在1920 年經過皇家軍事音樂學校管樂團正式首演 後,知名度大增,有越來越多樂團開始演奏《第一組曲》。此曲激起各界廣泛 之討論,相關新聞亦時時登上報章雜誌。《第一組曲》的問世,讓世人認知 到,霍爾斯特是用嚴肅的心態,嘗試為軍樂隊創作真正有價值的音樂,並賦予 軍樂隊如同交響樂團般的趣味性與獨立性。往後,在霍爾斯特、佛漢·威廉斯

(Ralph Vaughan Williams, 1872-1958)及葛林傑(Percy A. Grainger, 1882-1961)共同推動下,管樂原創作品的發展終於向前邁開了步伐。

五、從手稿看霍爾斯特創作歷程

在1970 年代發現的《第一組曲》手稿當中,研究者觀察到作曲家對於配器 之考量思慮甚為周全。絕大多數的修改與刪減,都是為了讓整體音響得已更為 平衡與清晰。其中霍爾斯特對於細管上低音號(Baritone)與粗管上低音號

(Euphonium)之不同應用,也與史料、文獻之敘述相吻合。

六、《第一組曲》各版本之演進

從1909 年霍爾斯特手稿完成,歷經 1921 年初版、1948 年擴編的修訂版、

1984 年考證手稿後馬修斯修訂版、2005 年芬奈爾修訂版,乃至 2010 年伊藤康 英之原典版,《第一組曲》在百年以來,以高達六種不同面貌呈現於世人面 前。每一個版本,就像時光膠囊般,保存了特定時空下的文化背景,使吾輩得 已從各版本編制、改編手法、詮釋意見之變化與演進,一窺管樂團百年來的歷 程進程。

研究者希望透過此論文之研究與整理,讓讀者了解霍爾斯特《第一組曲》

之相關背景,並對往後研究者有所助益。研究者希冀能以此論文拋磚引玉,使 更多研究者投入經典管樂曲目之研究,發揚管樂文化。
