課程目標
Through outline discussion and case study, understand the basic concepts of tort law in Anglo-American legal system, learn the legal analysis process from court reasoning, and distinguish the differences from certain civil law concepts to enhance understanding of the interaction between tort legislation and social development. The topics will include intentional torts, negligence and causation as well as other tort law issues.

II. Privileges of Intentional Torts III. Negligence
IV. Defenses of Negligence
V. Joint Tortfeasors and Satisfaction & Release VI. Strict Liability & Product Liability
授課方式
I. Handout Discussion: Instructor will teach the general concepts of tort law at the first two weeks of the semester.
II. Selected Cases Study: Students will be divided in several groups to prepare case briefs and present the issue(s) of each case for class discussion.
III. Movie: Select one movie for watching and discussion on American court procedures as well as legal culture. Each Student has to write a report after the movie.
成績評量
I. Mid-term examination will cover the general concepts of torts.(30%) II. Case briefs will be evaluated as group project credit.(10-20%)
III. Movie report and class performance will be evaluated as individual’s credit as well as class attendance.(20-30%)
IV. Final examination and in-class quiz will be discussed at the first class.
(30%)
V. The exact percentage of the grade is subject to change after negotiating with students in class.
