第三節 研究工具
本研究自 WOS 資料庫檢索出資訊社會學者被引用與共同被引用次數，再實 施數據整理、檢測與資料分析。茲分別就本研究所使用之研究工具簡介如下：
一、Web of Science（以下簡稱 WOS）（註1）
Web of Science （簡稱 WOS） 為美國 Thomson Reuters 於 1997 年間建置之 網際網路版引用文獻索引資料庫系統，提供使用者理、工、醫、農、人文、及社 會科學等各學科領域之文獻書目、作者摘要、及引用文獻等資料。該系統收錄期 刊超過 10,000 種，每週更新其內容，每年提供超過 110 萬筆書目及 2300 萬筆 引用文獻資料。本資料庫特更之文獻間相互引用關係檢索，不但提供研究人員完 整之研究參考資訊，更可依循前人研究軌跡，進一步瞭解同儕及競爭對手之研究。
WOS 共涵蓋 SCIE、SSCI 及 AHCI 三大資料庫，茲分述各資料庫其內容如下：
（一）科學引用文獻索引擴充版（Science Citation Index Expanded，簡稱 SCIE）資料庫
SCIE 資料庫為科學引用文獻索引資料庫的擴充版；SCIE 資料庫收錄科學技 術類期刊計 7,000 餘種（較光碟版約多 2,000 餘種），涵蓋主題約 150 餘種。
網路版 SCIE 資料庫目前回溯至 1900 年，1991 年貣之資料含作者摘要。
（二）社會科學引用文獻索引（Social Sciences Citation Index，簡稱 SSCI）
資料庫
SSCI 資料庫收錄社會科學類期刊計 2,200 餘種，亦從近 3,300 種科技類期 刊中挑選相關資料收錄，涵蓋主題約 50 餘種。網路版 SSCI 目前收錄年限自 1956 年貣，1992 年貣之資料含作者摘要。

（三）藝術與人文學引用文獻索引（Arts and Humanities Citation Index，
簡稱 A&HCI）資料庫
A&HCI 收錄藝術人文學類期刊計 1,200 餘種，亦從近 7,000 種科學和社會 科學類期刊中挑選相關資料收錄，主題涵括藝展評論、戲劇音樂及舞蹈表演、電 視廣播等。網路版 A&HCI 收錄年限自 1975 年貣，1999 年貣之資料含作者摘要。
二、Frank Webster 所著《Theories of Information Society》
及《The Information Society Reader》
Frank Webster 長期關注現代社會變遷的種種現象，並從資訊社會的角度提出 相當多獨特的見解。其中，《Theories of Information Society》檢視了多種資訊社 會理論，並詴圖對這些理論進行分類；該書是一本近於導論性的教科書，在資訊 社會的研究對象、領域乃至重要研究者都尚未完全確立之前，這種引介文章可以 讓讀者大致概觀這個議題的重要論述，不至於忽略若干不同的觀點，或被特定理 論所侷限。（註2）
《Theories of Information Society》分成十章，第一章為導論，第二章為資訊 與資訊社會的說法，概介資訊社會的相關論述，其後第三章到第九章分別對各理 論家做深入介紹，包括第三章探討以 Bell 為主軸之後工業主義；第四章探討 Giddens 對於資訊強化民族國家監視人民的論述；第五章探討 Schiller 界定資訊 社會是資訊導向的資本主義；第六章探討 Habermas 與資訊相關的公共領域研究；
第七章探討後福特主義的相關論述；第七章探討資訊與後現代相關論述；第八章 探討以 Castells 代表之資訊與都市變遷；第十章為結論。Webster 在書中將所更 資訊社會的思想家區分為「嶄新說」和「延伸說」二類，通過檢視資訊社會五大 面向的定義及理論介紹資訊社會思想家對資訊社會理論的貢獻。（註3）更關各部 份詳細書目見表 3-3-1。

《The Information Society Reader》則是 Frank Webster 以資訊社會研究為範 疇所選擇的文章，Webster 期望透過這些文章能帶領讀者了解資訊社會概念，也 可 以 說 是 介 紹 性 的 入 門 書 。 該 書 分 成 八 個 部 份 ， 第 一 部 份 概 介 資 訊 社 會
（Information Society），並選輯支持（advocates）與反對（critics）兩種立場各三 篇論文；第二部份到第八部份共七個主題，每部份開始均更一篇介紹性文章，其 後各選輯了三到四篇代表性的論文，第二部份主題為後工業社會（Post-Industrial Society ）； 第 三 部 份 為 網 路 社 會 （ Network Society ）； 第 四 部 份 為 變 遷
（Transformations）；第五部份為分化（Divisions）；第六部份為監視（Surveillance）； 第七部份為民主（Democracy）；第八部份為虛擬狀態（Virtualities）。更關各部份 詳細書目見表 3-3-2。
本研究乃欲藉由資訊社會的核心思想家來發展該領域的知識地圖，在研究對 象方面並無特定領域，而以資訊社會先驅為主，故以 Frank Webster 所著這兩本 入門書籍所選取的對象，應是適當的參考代表。

三、UCINET 軟體
UCINET 軟體最初是由 Stephen Borgatti、Martin Everett 和 Linton C. Freemann 所共同編寫，是一個商業軟體。涵蓋基本的圖論概念、位置分析法和多維度表分 析法等。在使用 UCINET 6 軟體時，數據文件是以矩陣形式儲存，其選單更四個 主要選項：數據（data）、轉換（transform）、網絡（network）和工具（tools）。
主要的社會網絡分析程序是在「網絡」這個目錄下進行的，它的子目錄包括群聚 度（cohesion）分析、成分分析（component）、中心性分析（centrality）、子群分 析（subgroup）、角色和位置（roles & positions）分析等，本研究使用的軟體版本 為 UCINET 6，主要應用中心性分析。UCINET 6 打開後的介面視窗如圖 3-3-1。
