HOTELS AND SIMILAR ESTABLISHMENTS SURVEY 2012 Receipts & Expenditure by Classfication of Establishments

Receipts of 5-star, 4-star and 3-star hotels were more diverse, of which Room Sales accounted for 45%, 66%

and 40% respectively, followed by Food & Beverages and Rental of Space. Due to limited facilities, Receipts of 2- star hotels and guesthouses mainly came from Room Sales.

Despite an increase in Receipts of the hotel industry, Receipts of 3-star hotels dropped by 12% year-on-year on account of a remarkable decrease of 35% in Other Receipts.

Compensation of Employees registered the highest increase among all classes of hotels. In terms of Operating Expenses, notable growth was observed in Marketing, Market Research and Publicity.

Although 3-star and 2-star hotels, as well as guesthouses, had a higher percentage of receipts, they were relatively small in scale; therefore, 5-star hotels still predominated in the hotel industry.
