A Study on Job Enlargement, Work Motivation and Job Satisfaction-Case Study of the Elementary School Teachers

ABSTRACT

To increase the competitiveness of the corporate, job enlargement has become a trend in the business administration. Elementary school teachers also face this situation. As the motivation, this study would like investigate the phenomenon and the relations between work motivation and job satisfaction. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between job

enlargement, work motivation and job satisfaction of elementary school teachers. According to the domestic and foreign scholars’

related research theory, by using survey data and analyzing, examine the influence between job enlargement, work motivation and job satisfaction. The results showed that job enlargement is related significant positively with internal work motivation (r=0.168, p

<0.01) and external work motivation (r=0.236, p<0.01). It showed that the stronger job enlargement cause the higher work motivation. The correlation between job enlargement and job satisfaction is slight negative (r=-0.093). The internal work motivation is related positively with job satisfaction and it also reaches a significant level (r=0.432, p<0.01). The external

motivation and job satisfaction is insignificant correlation (r=0.024). As the variables of personal background, the 41 to 45-year-old age elementary school teachers feel the highest job enlargement. Different levels of education of elementary school teachers, master's degrees or higher have the most work motivation and graduated from college have the best job satisfaction. Different years of service, the 21 to 25 years have the best job satisfaction. As the results of the research, it can provide the HR departments some practical strategies for managers to enhance employees’ job satisfaction, increase workers’ efficiency, and strengthen corporate competitiveness.
