Change last year (%)

Full-time employees in the Gaming Sector increased by 1.7% year-on-year to 58,225, with female employees making up 57.5%. Shift working employees accounted for 94.6% of the total employees in the Sector.

Average earnings (excluding bonuses) of full-time employees in December rose by 3.8% year-on-year to MOP24,640; resident and non-resident employees earned an average of MOP24,790 and MOP21,910 respectively.

Job vacancies decreased notably by 878 year-on-year to 443, of which 77 vacancies were for dealers. Among the vacancies, 48.8% required work experience while 74.7% required senior secondary education or lower; requirement for knowledge of Mandarin and English accounted for 68.4% and 49.4%

of the total respectively.

There were 25,459 dealers, up by 3.0% year-on-year; their average earnings rose by 3.1% to MOP21,080.

In the fourth quarter of 2019, a total of 1,294 new employees were hired, down significantly by 25.5% from 1,737 in the same quarter of 2018. The job vacancy rate (0.8%) and the employee recruitment rate (2.2%) fell by 1.5 and 0.8 percentage points respectively year-on-year. These indicators reflected a slowdown in demand for manpower in the Gaming Sector.

Providing vocational training: Provision of courses organised by the enterprise or in conjunction with other institutions, or those sponsored by the enterprise.

Participants by course category

As regards vocational training, 76.9% of the gaming enterprises provided vocational training to their employees. In the fourth quarter, a total of 969 courses were organised. Number of participants went up by 38.3% year-on-year to 115,130, and 99.9% of the participants attended courses during office hours.

  Among the participants, 51.0% attended courses in Business & Administration, 20.7% in Gaming & Entertainment Services and 15.9% in Services.

  There were 97.5% of the participants attending courses organised by the gaming enterprises, and almost all participants were employer-sponsored.
