第二節 研究限制
研究理應越加全面越好,然而,礙於研究者的時間與空間上的限制,因此難 免會有些疏漏。時間上的限制包括,為求研究效率通常會有一段研究期程,若是 被研究的現象持續發生,則會因時間的限制造成研究上的缺失。而空間上的限制 亦是地理學研究所關注的,由於地理是討論社會現象之空間化的學科,但是地理 亦強調區域與地方特色的差異,因此理論會因地制宜,所以在使用理論上一定會 有研究區差異上的不吻合。而除了時間與空間的限制外,亦提出其他本文的研究 限制:
一、調查不夠全面之限制
本研究討論的是鄉村再結構,但僅以兩項產業作經濟再結構之代表,因 此會有其他產業調查不足的疑慮。由於,本文是一個以地方為載體的研究,
必須從眾多社會現象中撿選能夠具代表性的來做討論。然而,即便選了關西 鎮過去和現在的地方特色農產業,仍是缺乏其他產業的討論,因此可能會有 代表性不足的限制。
二、受訪對象數目的限制

由於本文是以一個地方的兩項農產業為討論對象,因此各產業的訪談對 象會比只研究一項產業的受訪者對象之豐富度少,因為人力、物力以及時間 的關係,無法作更全面的調查與訪談,因此通常都以資料飽和為限,而沒有 餘力多預備訪談同類別之其他對象,在資料檢證上可能會有缺失。
三、理論適用的限制
由於地方上有許多精彩的社會現象在發生,然而,研究者必須透過自己 的選擇來建構出一套說法,所以會有許多相關的現象或概念未被使用在本研 究當中。例如,本文是以經濟地理的關係取向切入,因此忽略了客家人聚集 可能帶來的產業變遷與再結構之影響,因此在客家文化的論述上,採用文化 經濟與族群經濟的觀點補充田野中的相關現象,然而勢必會有缺漏。再者,
Marsden(1998)的鄉村再結構強調經濟上的轉變,然而如何從經濟帶到社 會、文化甚至是地景的論述亦是本文較沒有處理到的地方。
