百科的各項功能，讓即使是不是以英語為母語的使用者，亦能在平台上進行編 寫。最後，辯論百科採取少數管理員和多數自願義工，來監督濫用情況，雖然這 種作法無法全面阻止濫用，但在上述實例中也可見，會員的主動協助亦能在某種 程度上維持辯論百科不會輕易受到濫用，但未來的適用性，或是能否應付更龐大 的社群，則仍待時間考驗，或需要更完善的防堵機制才行。因此，辯論百科符合 要件 1-1，卻在要件 1-2 的部分有些許欠缺，特別是阻止濫用的部分並未有妥善 的機制設置。
第二節、要件二：連貫性
據前述章節所言，要讓中介畛域得以有效聯繫多元與共識兩種畛域的第二個 要件是連貫性。連貫性指的是多元和共識兩種畛域所處理的議題，在實質內涵上 必須維持連貫性，為了達到這個目的，所以機制必須要具備足夠彈性，以便能同 時處理多元與共識兩種畛域的狀況。也因此，連貫性這個要件又可以經由兩個項 目來確認，分別是要件2-1，即機制不僅可以不斷納入各種多元意見，而且又能 同時收攏各種不同的多元意見，以及要件2-2，即機制不僅可以允許少數人聚在 一起討論，而且也要能夠容納成千上萬參與者同時參與討論。前者指的是意見數 量的彈性必須十足；後者指的則是參與者數量的彈性也必須十足，而本文所要檢 視的即是，採取維基平台的辯論百科，是否在意見與參與者數量上，都能具備充 分的彈性。
從理論上來看，當下的儲存媒介確實可以提供無所限制的內容，從少數幾句 話，到洋洋灑灑一整篇文章，甚至到整本的大英百科全書，對現在的硬碟來說，
都可輕易地進行處理。若從辯論百科中的實際案例中，我們亦可清楚看出，採取 維基平台的辯論百科，確實也有彈性十足的特性。在辯論百科中，內容最小的辯 論主題是剛被建立的主題，頁面通常只有辯論的主要提問，和大致編排的版面，
內 容 幾 乎 全 是 空 白 ， 比 方 說 「 布 希 與 高 爾 」(Bush V. Gore) 這 個 辯 論 主 題 (Debate:_Bush_v._Gore, 2010, Jan 29)，扣除其他說明和排版內容，嚴格來說只有 14 個 字 。 相 較 來 看 ， 在 辯 論 百 科 中 最 受 歡 迎 的 辯 論 主 題 「 動 物 試 驗 」 (Debate:_Animal_testing&oldid=99389, 2010, Feb 5)，目前已有 54,135 字，後者的 字數約是前者的3867 倍。若單從個別辯論主題的發展來看，亦可看出辯論百科 平台的彈性。依筆者統計，「動物試驗」的辯論頁面在公眾所參與的兩年多時間 中，字數從原本的6,813 個字，擴增到達到 54,135 字，相較於創建時期，字數是 當初字數的八倍有餘。很明顯的，當辯論百科採取維基平台的運作機制時，辯論 百科確實可像維基百科一樣，同時處理不同數量的意見，小從簡單的14 個字，
大到54,135 個字，辯論百科仍然遊刃有餘，此即符合 2.1 要件中的前半要求，即 機制可以不斷納入各種多元意見。
承如前述，中介畛域不僅必須不斷納入各種多元意見，也要能夠同時收攏各 種不同的多元意見。若從個別辯論主題來看，我們便能看出辯論百科確能同時收 攏各種不同的多元意見，即符合要件2-1 的後半要求。同樣以辯論百科中最受歡 迎的「動物試驗」這個議題為例，在 2007 年 9 月 2 日時，辯論百科的管理者 (Administrator)創建了這個議題，並開始鼓勵公眾參與辯論。在當時，整個辯論

內容只有簡單的幾個論點提示，參與的意見極為有限，最初的辯論頁面目錄如下 圖十所示：

由上表可知，該辯論主題一開始並沒有明確的主要提問和子提問，其主要內 容是由參與者Brooks Lindsay 根據 Thomas Dixon 在 Debatabase 所寫的內容進行 統整，最初僅粗略地區分為 6 個論點(argument)和 5 個項目，共計 11 個項次 (Debate:_Animal_testing&oldid=4095, 2009, Nov 15)。隨著參與者的加入，最後整 個主要辯論頁面從簡單的6 個論點和 5 個項目，變成具備 1 個主要提問、18 個 子提問和6 個項目，共計 25 個項次的頁面(Debate:_Animal_testing&oldid=99389, 2010, Feb 5)。若我們將辯論頁面最主要的三個部分（主要提問、子提問和其他項 目）分開來看，其發展歷程如下圖十一所示：

從上表中可知，從2007 年 9 月 18 日主要提問被建立後，參與編寫者持續就 辯論主題所應涵納的內涵進行調整，因此，雖然時間綿延兩年多，但更動（包含 新增、刪除與修正）的動作直到2009 年 7 月 23 日前都未停歇，而且這些更動也 都持續地集中在這個主題的相關面向上，儘管在2008 年 1 月 16 日時，主要提問 曾從「在非人類的動物上作實驗，以發展有利於人類的產品和藥物，在道德上站 得住腳？」(Is it morally acceptable to experiment on non-human animals to develop products and medicines that benefit human beings?)，修改為「為人類目的對動物作 實驗，在道德上站得住腳？」(Is it morally acceptable to experiment on animals for human purposes?)，但提問本身的主要意涵並未改變。
